37 miles drive west from Belize City on the George Price Highway (formerly Western Highway), brings us to Frank’s Eddie Village junction. Turning south, we pass through Frank’s Eddie village and after travelling 6 miles, is the Nohoch Che'en Caves Branch Archaeological Reserve, with modern bathrooms, secure parking, excellent jungle restaurant, and handicraft shops.
After changing into your wet suit, grab your tube, life-vest and caving light. Taking a leisurely jungle trail walk through one dry cave system, and under beautiful primary broadleaf rainforest, to the entrance of the cave system and the most popular tour site in Belize. After entering the river, and start tubing, comfortably floating through gorgeous caves you’ll see stalactite and stalagmite filled caverns, where the ancient Maya people once practiced the important rite of travelling through the underworld of Shibalba, ruled by nine dark lords.
Your guide (s) will take you safely through the system, and then, at the end of the caves, enjoy a beautiful river tubing experience under the canopy of the rainforest. At the end (this is actually a circuit – you float back to where you started hiking!), and then back to your original start point.
